You may have read in the news that Surf Snowdonia has closed early for the winter – 8 weeks earlier than planned – this has left many enthusiastic surfers disappointed, however, the site has been plagued with mechanical and technical issues since opening on 1st August 2015 and sensibly they are investing the winter period in ensuring their surf offering is opened again in April 2016 with a stronger more reliable service.
For those that just want to surf, there isn’t much alternative, except to brave the waves at Abersoch. But for those of you that were interested in trying Surf Snowdonia out then don’t let this put you off from visiting the area. While Surf Snowdonia is having it’s repairs done there are plenty of adventures to be had in the national park.
Zip World is open all year round where you can whizz through the air like a bird on a zip wire;
Tree Tops is also open year round with a fantastic high ropes course for adults and children and lots of other tree top adventures to be had;
Karting is a big sport here in North Wales with national championships taking place at one of the largest carting circuits in the UK at GYG Karting in Cerrig Y Drudion between Betws-y-Coed and Corwen, about 20 minutes from Aberconwy House, you can book in for a spin round the circuit and a flash of the chequered flag!
Surf Snowdonia opens again April 2016 and gift vouchers are a great way to ensure you get a session booked sometime in the new year – plus Christmas is just around the corner, what a great gift idea!
Another great site we have just discovered is http://www.outdoornorthwales.com/ with loads of information, ideas and inspiration for making the most of what North Wales has to offer naturally!
