Living in a Dark Skies Reserve – The Northern Lights
Eryri/Snowdonia National Park is designated as an International Dark Reserve. This means we live in an area that makes sure that light pollution is kept to a minimum and we get to see the night sky in all its glory. For those of you that live in town’s and cities, this does mean that street lights here are kept to a minimum and it can feel very dark when walking around at night, but we have you covered and can provide you with torches to help you navigate your way back from the pub. Make sure you take a moment to look up at the night sky as on a clear night you can see a plethora of stars and planets shining above our house, including the milky way, its a special sight and if you are lucky you might even see a shooting star!
The Aurora Borealis otherwise known as the Northern lights is something we’ve always thought we’d have to go abroad to see, but we were so lucky to see this amazing natural phenomenon right above our house! Being in a Dark Sky Reserve meant that we were able to catch these amazing pictures from our garden. We count ourselves very lucky to be able to experience such amazing natural spectacles like this and you never know, when you stay with us you may be able to as well!
